Brooklyn, NY 11229- A Mecca For Young Entrepreneurs
A borough that's bursting with vibrant neighborhoods, lush parks and strong environmental programs, Brooklyn's unique energy has become a magnet for young entrepreneurs. From modern waterfront Domino Park to the city's first children museum, there is a lot to explore in this iconic borough.
During the years following World War II, many of Brooklyn's older, traditional industries began to decline. This was especially true of the borough's bustling manufacturing sector, where it once made clocks, cigars, beer, insulated wiring and electrical signs. In addition, the borough was home to many sugar refineries, slaughterhouses and other factories.
Many of the borough's industrial jobs have since moved out to the suburbs, but the area's strong and diverse economy has continued to thrive, with many new, innovative businesses popping up. Brooklyn is now a leading center for technology, creative services and urban manufacturing, with thriving e-commerce, software development and health care industries.
Brooklyn is also well known for its food scene. From upscale dining to family-friendly eateries and everything in between, there is truly something for everyone in the borough.
While the borough's residents are known for keeping their favorite restaurants somewhat secret (to prevent them from becoming too crowded), there are plenty of places to discover on your own. The borough's many coffee shops, laidback bars and eclectic brunch spots are all great places to start, but don't be afraid to venture out of your comfort zone and try something new.
Another of Brooklyn's perks is that its restaurants are usually much less expensive than Manhattan's, making it an ideal place for young professionals or students starting out their careers. It is also a mecca for artists, writers and young entrepreneurs, with many neighborhoods having a distinctly youthful feel with a buzz you'll find hard to replicate in Manhattan.
Among Brooklyn's many highlights, the prestigious Brooklyn Museum is home to an impressive collection of art from across the globe and throughout history. From Egyptian antiquities to modern works that address feminism and racial identity, this museum is worth a visit for anyone interested in art. And, unlike many of Manhattan's famous museums, it is not as crowded, so you can get a closer look at some of the world's most recognizable pieces without fighting for space with hordes of other visitors.
